Google, Restaurants, and why I never sleep.

matt cutts
Zucker-who? Meet Matt Cutts, the man who runs the internet.

I knew I shouldn’t have put my vacation on my Google calendar.  Last week, Google announced that Google Places was being replaced with Google + Local.  They did this because apparently the 4-6 hours of sleep I get a night was far too much for them.  My first real live day without work in a year be darned, they want to re-write the internet.  I personally blame Matt Cutts.  I’m not sure what I ever did to him, but boy is he is a vindictive.

Okay, Google (probably) did not make this change to ruin my vacation.  Matt Cutts most likely has never even heard of me.  In reality, the company that has more PhD’s working for it than NASA is doing small businesses and local restaurants a huge favor.  Google + Local is awesome and will reshape the way we will use the internet.  I for one welcome our new computer overlords.

So over the weekend I will be consuming every bit of advise on Google + Local I can get my hands on and even setting up some new profiles for clients.  I will also be learning the ins and outs of Zagat so I can give you the best advice possible on setting up your profile on what just became the most important review site on the internet.

In the meantime, check out my advice on Google + Local for Restaurants.  I am going to finish packing, kick The Last Waltz in the CD player, take the top down on my car, and drive to Columbia, MO.  And Matt if you are reading this, could you please not re-write the Google algorithm in the next 2 hours?
